Cookie Policy

What this notice covers
Cookies are small text files stored on your device; websites can also keep small amounts of data in your browser's own storage. This notice lists every cookie and piece of browser storage this website uses, explains what our first-party analytics does and does not collect, and tells you how to turn it off. Our approach is designed to support the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR: our analytics has a single, statistical purpose, we tell you about it up front, and you can switch it off at any time with one click.
The basis for our analytics
We rely on the statistical-purposes exception in the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025): the sole purpose of our analytics storage is to collect statistics about how this website is used so we can improve it. You can object at any time using the Cookie preferences control in the footer; objecting stops collection immediately and deletes the visit data recorded under your analytics ID.
Under UK GDPR, our basis for producing those statistics is our legitimate interests in understanding and improving the website; your right to object is honoured by the same control. Analytics is never used for advertising, to profile you or to make decisions about you as an individual.
Analytics is on by default — and how to turn it off
When you first visit we show a small bar explaining that we use our own first-party analytics. Analytics is on from your first page view; you do not have to do anything to keep it on, and you can turn it off there with one click (“Turn off analytics”). Turning it off carries no penalty: the site works exactly the same. You can turn analytics off — or back on — at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page.
Turning analytics off stops collection immediately and deletes the visit data already recorded under your analytics ID; only anonymous daily totals are kept. If you have cleared your cookies you can still email us your ID and we will remove it — after removal that ID is refused permanently, so also clear the site's cookies.
Cookies and storage we use
atp_notice
Strictly necessaryRemembers that you have seen and dismissed the analytics notice so we do not show it again. Set when you dismiss the notice or make a choice.
Duration: 12 months
atp_consent
Strictly necessaryRecords that you switched analytics off, or switched it back on, so we respect your choice on every page. Not set until you make a choice.
Duration: 12 months
Admin session cookies
Strictly necessaryKeep agency staff signed in to the admin area. Never set for visitors to the public site.
Duration: Admin only; session, up to 30 days
atp_vid
Analytics (can be turned off)A random analytics ID for your browser, set on your first page view unless analytics is off. It is not linked to your name or contact details.
Duration: 13 months, fixed expiry (never renewed)
Session data in browser storage
Analytics (can be turned off)A random visit ID, a short signed visit token, and the page you started your visit on together with the site that referred you, any campaign labels in that page's address and whether your browser reports itself as automated. Created only while analytics is on. The visit ID and starting-page details are sent to our server with your analytics events, and the token with any form you submit, so pages viewed in one visit are grouped together and a submission can be counted against the channel that visit came from.
Duration: Expires after 30 minutes of inactivity (a new record replaces it on your next visit); deleted when you turn analytics off
atp_internal / atp_test
Staff onlyUsed by agency staff to exclude their own browsers from analytics; set only from the admin area.
Duration: atp_internal: 1 year; atp_test: until the browser is closed
Application draft
FunctionalThe details you have typed into an application, kept on your device only until you submit or discard.
Duration: Until you submit or discard the application
We set no third-party cookies. Vacancy filters live in the page address, not in storage.
What analytics collects
Analytics helps us see which pages, regions and campaigns bring people to vacancies and where forms cause trouble. While analytics is on we record:
- the types of page you view (for example the vacancy list, a vacancy page or a county page) and, for vacancy pages, the job category and region — never the employer
- which vacancy pages you view and which vacancy you apply to
- the filter choices you make on the vacancy list and the category of search you run (never the text you type)
- which step of a form you reach and whether it succeeded or failed, as a short code
- the names of form fields that failed validation (never their contents)
- the search engine, social network or job board you arrived from (other sites are recorded only as 'other')
- campaign labels from links we publish (for example a LinkedIn post or a newsletter)
- your device category (mobile, tablet or desktop)
We never store: names, contact details, CV content, anything you type, search text, your full IP address or full browser string (IP and browser type are used momentarily to block abuse and to classify bots/devices, then discarded).
Applications, CV registrations and enquiries
We record which vacancy pages you view and which vacancy you apply to. If you apply, register your CV or send an enquiry while analytics is on, we record which channel the visit came from so we can count applications by channel; this is used for statistics only and is not shown on your individual record. Turn analytics off and no such link is made (existing links are deleted).
For submissions you make while analytics is on, we keep the channel (e.g. ‘paid search’) on the submission record; the detailed source and campaign are removed after 90 days.
Business processing. Applications, CV registrations and enquiries themselves are processed and counted whether or not analytics is on, because that is the service you asked us for. That processing is explained in our Privacy Policy.
How long we keep analytics data
Pages viewed and events are deleted 90 days after they are recorded. The record for your analytics ID is kept while you continue to visit and deleted 90 days after your last visit; until then it keeps the channel, referring site, campaign labels and landing page of your first visit and of your most recent visit that arrived from a search engine, another site or a campaign link. The atp_vid cookie itself expires after 13 months at most. Daily totals that contain no identifier — for example the number of visits per channel per day — are kept for 13 months and then deleted.
Turning analytics off and asking for removal
Open Cookie preferences in the footer to see whether analytics is on, to see your analytics ID, and to turn analytics off or back on. Turning it off also deletes the visits recorded under this ID. To ask us to remove data by email, send your analytics ID to Joseph@AutomotiveTalentPartners.co.uk. We cannot find your visits from your name or email address because analytics never stores them.
The anonymous notice-choice counter
Each time you dismiss the notice, turn analytics off or turn it back on, we add one to an anonymous daily count of choices; no identifier, cookie or IP address is stored with it. It exists so we can see what share of visitors turn analytics off, and therefore how much of our audience the reports cover. Apart from this count and the permanent block on a deleted analytics ID described above, our servers record nothing about visitors who have turned analytics off.
Third-party cookies and Google Analytics
We set no third-party cookies. If we enable Google Analytics 4 in future it will be server-to-server, set no cookies, involve Google as a processor, and this notice will be updated first.
Google Analytics 4 is not currently enabled. If it were enabled it would receive only the event categories listed above, without personal data, and only for visitors who have analytics on.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Because we treat the absence of a choice as analytics being on, deleting the atp_consent cookie after you turned analytics off turns it back on; delete atp_notice as well and the notice bar appears again on your next visit so you can turn analytics off once more. If your browser blocks cookies for this site altogether, no analytics ID can be set and no visit is recorded. Blocking strictly necessary cookies does not stop the public site working (the notice bar will simply reappear), but agency staff cannot sign in to the admin area without them.
