Workshop Controller

Automotive Talent Partners is recruiting a Workshop Controller in Reading, Berkshire.

You will coordinate workshop activity, helping technicians and service colleagues keep work organised and customers informed. The role focuses on planning workload, tracking job progress and supporting timely completion of work to the required standard.

Basic salary of £35,000, with on-target earnings of £50,000 including bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and allocate workshop jobs according to workload, technician skills and available capacity.
• Track work in progress and identify delays or additional requirements.
• Maintain clear job information and communicate progress to service colleagues.
• Coordinate with parts and service teams where work depends on parts availability or customer authorisation.
• Support checks on completed work, documentation and workshop standards.
• Monitor productivity and workflow, raising issues and suggesting practical improvements.
• Help maintain an organised workshop and consistent communication across the team.

• Relevant experience in workshop coordination, workshop control or automotive service operations.
• An understanding of servicing, repair workflows and technician workload planning.
• Strong organisation and the ability to prioritise changing demands.
• Clear communication with technical and customer-facing colleagues.
• Attention to quality, accurate records and safe working practices.
